General Itinerary

Friends! It's finally starting to look like we have hosts for our whole European adventure! This is especially a cause for celebration because finding host families has been a long and frustrating process. We read the profiles of all 444 families offered to us by the website workaway.info in our three countries of interest, painstakingly emailed 51 of them in the last six months, and only now have received confirmation from five seemingly-wonderful families!

Soooo we're super excited and feel very lucky to have five situations that we actually like. We still need to book some hostels and transportation for our travels in between hosts, but we have a general plan. This is it:
  • July 1: Drive from Newton to Chicago with Alan’s parents
  • July 2, evening: Flight from Chicago to Barcelona, Spain
  • July 3-July 7: Barcelona
  • July 8-Aug. 18: Host family in Mallorca
  • Aug. 18-20: Granada, Spain
  • Aug. 20-Sept. 15: Host family in Vejer de la Frontera, Spain
  • Sept. 15-17: Madrid, Spain
  • Sept. 17: Fly from Madrid to Rome
  • Sept. 18-Oct. 10ish: Host family in Abruzzo, Italy
  • Oct. 10ish-Nov. 6: Host family in Puglia, Italy
  • Nov. 7, evening: Ferry from Brindisi, Italy to Patra, Greece
  • Nov. 8-14: Peloponnese, Greece
  • Nov. 14-Dec. 14: Host family in Levadia, Greece
  • Dec. 15: Flights from Athens, Greece to Chicago
  • Dec. 18-19: Train from Chicago to Dodge City
